The Department of Architecture at the University of Petra offers an outstanding program for obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Architecture. The program stands out for its modernity, alignment with rapid scientific developments, and alignment with the job market requirements. Students in this field receive meticulous attention, focusing on technical, artistic, scientific, practical, and social aspects to serve sustainable community development.
The study period is five years, divided into ten academic semesters. Students can complete the program in a minimum of four and a half years, during which they earn a Bachelor's degree in Architecture after successfully completing 165 accredited credit hours distributed as follows:
- 24 credit hours of university requirements (mandatory and elective).
- 18 credit hours of college requirements (mandatory and elective).
- 115 credit hours of department requirements (mandatory and elective).
- 12 credit hours of department supporting requirements (mandatory).
The mandatory requirements include three months of continuous practical training and community service as part of the graduation requirements.
Additionally, the Integrated Dual Program is implemented, which the University of Petra is the first private Jordanian university to introduce. This program aims to integrate theoretical academic aspects with practical application, enhance students' professional skills, improve the implementation of theories, and provide them with practical experience alongside their university studies. It also enables the private sector to employ a workforce that meets labor-market needs by providing students with 9 months of training distributed across the summer semesters, starting at the end of their second year.
The program's curriculum allows students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and its practical application. This enhances their readiness for excellence in the job market and further studies. The curriculum includes a variety of specialized practical courses taught in well-equipped college classrooms, studios, and labs.
The curriculum is designed to ensure quality, aligning with the standards and requirements of the Jordanian Higher Education Accreditation Commission. It also aligns with international programs while allowing continuous development to respond to expected changes.
