The Department of Digital Film Design Technology offers a comprehensive program that integrates artistic creativity with the technical skills required in contemporary filmmaking, balancing theoretical, design, and practical aspects. The department seeks to graduate a new generation of filmmakers who combine artistic vision, design thinking, and technical excellence, producing creative works that express culture and society in innovative ways. It also aims to empower students to contribute effectively to the creative industries locally and regionally, while deepening their understanding of film as both an art form and a medium of communication.

Through a series of specialized courses, students develop competencies across all stages of film production — from concept development to post-production.

Program Overview

  • Storytelling and Screenwriting: Students explore visual storytelling and the structure of cinematic narratives, enabling them to transform ideas into professional scripts.
  • Directing and Production: Students learn the principles of directing and production management, gaining insight into all phases of filmmaking — pre-production, production, and post-production.
  • Cinematography and Lighting: The program emphasizes the aesthetic and technical aspects of image creation through camera operation, framing, and lighting design.
  • Sound and Editing: Students acquire skills in sound recording, design, and digital editing to build cohesive and engaging audiovisual narratives.
  • Production and Set Design: The curriculum trains students in perspective drawing, computer-aided design, and cinematic set design, linking visual composition to dramatic storytelling.
  • Visual Effects and Post-Production: Students practice visual effects, color correction, and finishing techniques to achieve high cinematic quality.

The department offers a Bachelor's degree in Digital Film Design Technology with a study duration of four years, comprising a total of 140 credit hours distributed as follows:

  • 24 credit hours of university requirements (compulsory and elective).
  • 18 credit hours of faculty requirements (compulsory and elective).
  • 98 credit hours of departmental requirements (compulsory and elective).

These requirements include a field training program of 250 actual hours in specialized companies within the film and media industry.​​
